Joy Guzzarde
LCPC | Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois and I specialize in working with individuals with OCD, anxiety, depression, and sport/exercise performance. I also enjoy working with women dealing with prenatal and postpartum issues.
Background
I received my B.A. in psychology at DePaul University in 2014 and my M.A. in Counseling with a Specialization in Sport and Health Psychology at Adler University in 2016. I was first introduced to OCD and anxiety treatment through the main modalities of ERP and CBT at Rogers Behavioral Health in Skokie, IL where I interned. I later continued working as a behavioral specialist and therapist in the PHP and IOP levels of care for the adult OCD and mood disorder programs.
Over the past several years, I have focused more on outpatient private practice work where I have continued to work with individuals using ERP, CBT, and ACT as my main therapeutic modalities. I regularly incorporate these into my work to help clients build their life maps by establishing core values and goals.
Outside of being a therapist, I am a mom and I enjoy exercise and sports, traveling, trying new foods, hanging out with my family and dog, and watching tv shows/movies.
