Caitrina Fragoso
MA, LPC
Background
I received my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I initially became interested in this field when I was exposed to the difficulties faced by veterans transitioning out of the military. Once I began my master’s program, I quickly took an interest in helping all individuals with their mental health.
After graduating with my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, I began doing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with children on the Autism Spectrum. I then worked as a co-teacher for a military academy in the Special Education Department. These opportunities led me to pursue my masters.
During my clinical training, I gained experience working with diverse clientele. I have experience conducting therapy in an inpatient unit in a hospital setting, where I regularly worked with individuals with a history of trauma. I also have experience in community mental health in the psychosocial rehabilitation program. I have experience working with various diagnoses in both individual and group therapy. This includes severe mental illness, comorbid conditions with anxiety, and disorders on the compulsive spectrum. I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy which is individualized based on the client’s needs.
I encourage my clients to maintain self-care regularly. My biggest forms of self-care are hiking with my two German Shepherds and spending time with my family. Your form of self-care may look different than mine because finding what works for you is what matters.
