Amy McCausland
LCPC | Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
I am a licensed clinical professional counselor with prior experience working at the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care. I love to help people celebrate their unique design, inner qualities and strengths. In therapy, I assist my clients to increasingly recognize and move away from unhealthy behaviors and thinking patterns and, instead, journey toward healing and wholeness. I have experience working with mood disorders, OCD, and with trauma.
Background
I draw primarily upon Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the related modalities of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Prolonged Exposure (PE) throughout my work. I have also been trained in Trauma-Focused CBT (children/adolescents), and utilize mindfulness, DBT, and ACT in my treatment approach.
With a strong background in music (Bachelor Degrees in Violin and Harp Performance), I have greatly enjoyed working with some clients as clinically appropriate by utilizing artistic expression, functioning as behavior activation, exposure, and healthy coping technique.
Originally from Kentucky, then putting down roots in the Pacific Northwest, my family and I have greatly enjoyed getting to know Chicagoland for the past ten years and continue to explore everything the Midwest has to offer. With four kids, three cats, and an ever-evolving number of fish and reptiles, life is busy and beautiful. You can find me jogging trails and trying new ways to pair great friends with good coffee around the city.
